Well My Heart

Well, my heart
what shall we do?
Talk together over what these acts have done
what this all means
who is affected
and how?

Make a message
as is our wont
collaborated on by you, my heart, and me?
A poem, a picture, a piece of prose?

No.

Let us listen to other's conversations
with their own hearts
let us eavesdrop on their words
hoping
to find what we are looking for
in the abundance of their talk

longing for that feeling
of hearts knowing one another

not finding it yet
finding only the best
and the worst:
that these hearts are still beating
that these hearts are still breaking
with us.
