The Rochester driver is going too fast, loaded with alcohol and ammunition

Two Monroe County residents are facing weapons charges following a weekend traffic stop.

the New York State Police says soldiers stopped the driver of a car on State Route 104 in Rochester around 3:10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022. Soldiers allege the driver, identified as Shawn Davis, 43, of Rochester, was driving at high speed, was traveling 83 mph in a 55 mph zone.

In a written statement, the NYSP says that during their investigation, soldiers discovered that the Davis was illegally carrying a .22 caliber revolver loaded with five rounds.

Soldiers say Davis was also driving under the influence.

The passenger in the vehicle, identified as Shay Pearson, 41, of Rochester, was said to be carrying a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol loaded with six rounds.

Shawn Davis is charged with the following:

  • Criminal possession of a 2nd degree weapon
  • Criminal possession of a 3rd degree weapon
  • Drunk driving
  • Speeding

Shay Pearson is charged with the following:

  • Criminal possession of a 2nd degree weapon
  • Criminal possession of a 3rd degree weapon

Davis and Pearson were brought to the Monroe County Jail for arraignment. They will respond to the charges in court at a later date.
